Trust is an essential part of any relationship, and we strive to earn yours. Day Before Birth Incorporated aims for the highest standards for operations, transparency and business ethics, and we believe these standards are essential to achieving our mission.
On an ongoing basis, our financial targets will be benchmarked against top-rated non-profits. These benchmarks include:
- Administrative Expenses Less Than 15%
- Fundraising Expenses Less Than 10%
- Working Capital Ratio Greater Than 1.00
Our goal is to meet the targets set by Charity Navigator for a top (four-star) rating.
Since we began operations in 2010, administrative and fundraising expenses combined have run less than 12.2 %--far exceeding our benchmarks. Our major program for 2014--the "Time for ACTion" conference--stayed within budget and met all the strict financial and business-policy requirements mandated by a Federally-funded program. Outside of program expenses, our most significant expense categories have been accounting, legal work, Federal/State fees, website hosting, telephone, e-mail, computer and travel. Since inception, directors have worked on a purely volunteer basis and have not received any type of compensation.
As a 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) public charity, our tax filings (Form 990) are publically available on request and through the office of the Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
